BibleGateway.com  (www.biblegateway.com) is a free service for reading and researching Scripture online--all in the language or translation of your choice (which includes the Bible in 50 different versions as well as in 35 different languages).  It provides advanced tools you can use to search the Bible by keywords or verse, as well as other tools to enhance your study of the Bible.

 

E-Sword (www.e-sword.net) e-Sword is a free software package that offers multiple bible translations, commentaries, and other biblical resources.  e-Sword is feature rich and user friendly with more capabilities than you would expect in a free software package.  This is a great resource for additional bible and bible-related sources.

Questia.com subscription: Questia is an online library of over 400,000 downloadable resources, including books, journals and periodical articles. Subscriptions are available on a monthly or quarterly basis, and will replace the purchase of individual textbooks for this course. (Optional—but not required for this course)

Course Description:

This course is designed to broaden your understanding of the book of Psalms.  It will provide you with an in depth historical overview of the psalms.  The course emphasizes the occasions in which the psalms are written, as well as how they can be applied today.

Course Goals and Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, students will:

1.  Be able to understand the origin, development and purpose of the psalms.                                                                         

2.  Become more aware of the benefit of psalming.

3.  Be able to express personal emotions and revelations from God through the art of

     psalming.

4.  Be able to relate the psalms from a thematic perspective.

5.  Identify various authors and the occasions under which they were psalming.

6.  Identify prophecy in the psalms.
