BIology is the study of the natural environment. It explores life in its many forms, plant, animal, and human. It is the study of complex interactions and systems that illustrate the incredible diversity of life and creation.

In this course, our objective is to understand and apply the principles of biology to the creation. We want to explore ways in which biology points us to the very purpose of life.

Our textbook, Michael Denton's "Nature's Destiny," draws together the principles of biology with observations from other sciences and from logic to argue a simple case. Denton contends that our entire universe was designed specifically for our habitation. He argues for an ordered, intricate, and sophisticated creation.

Unlike a traditional biology course loaded with lab experiments, we will take a more pragmatic approach, given our online environment. My hope is that we will encounter biology not as a "lab" discipline, but as you encounter it every day.

I hope you enjoy this course. pk
