COURSE PROCEDURES AND COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

• We will communicate vie threaded discussion groups on the class web site, through email, and attached files.  Attached files may be in Word '97 or 2000, WordPerfect version 9 or earlier, or ASCII text files.
• Three times a week – usually Monday, Wednesday, and Friday – I will post a brief lecture in the course lecture hall.  In conjunction with that, you will be asked to participate in an online discussion based in a central question I present in advance.  A list of the questions for discussion is included below.  These online discussions take the place of classroom discussions and are a significant way we help each other learn.
• Textbooks for this course tend to be more practical than theoretical.  While the reading load is substantial, I think you will find it enjoyable.  I would expect to see evidence in your class discussions that you have familiarized yourself with the reading material.
