Course Description: Studies the varying claims for the origin of biological life on earth, focusing on the debate classically considered to be between
"creationism" and "evolution." The scientific evidence for each general position is rigorously evaluated.
Course Goals and Objectives: 1. Be able to articulate the theory of evolution;
2. Be able to articulate a creationist perspective on the earth's origin; 3. Be aware of the significant issues underlying the debate between creation and evolution; 4. Be aware of contemporary
evidence and philosophy related to the creation and evolution positions; 5. Be able to rigorously evaluate scientific evidence in the pursuit of truth;
6. Develop a personal statement of belief about the origins of life.
