Assignments
for this course take the form of written summaries,
research, and analysis. They are designed to help us
work through the course objectives, while keeping a
focus on our spiritural growth through conceptual
learning.
For each assignment, please develop a document and
submit it to me in either Microsoft Word, RTF (rich
text format), or HTML format (your word processing
software should permit you to do a "save as"
and choose either of those formats).
For each assignment, please be sure to that your
responses indicate that you have read and carefully
considered the resource material, as assigned.
Assignment

Youth Ministry in The Postmodern Church
This week, we will use online resources to become more
familiar with the "postmodern movement" in
the church. Many church leaders are working, thinking,
and writing about ways to comprehend and operate in
the "emerging church."
This week, you will join them.
Assignment:
Using Internet resources, please develop a brief paper
entitled: Youth Ministry in the Postmodern Church.
Your paper should represent your manifesto for a youth
minister in the "postmodern" age. It should
integrate your understanding and analysis of the
postmodern movement, and your interpretation of its
impact specifically to youth ministry.
Be sure to address:
1.) What is the postmodern movement in the church?
2.) What are the most important characteristics of the
"postmodern" church?
3.) How will “postmodern” Christianity impact the
traditional "church"?
4.) Your opinion of the postmodern movement
5.) Would you rather work in a traditional or
postmodern environment, and why?
Tom Hohstadt’s “FutureChurch.net” is an
excellent resource for online articles devoted to the
emerging church and some specific applications. Its article
section will provide a great starting point for
your study.
Beyond FutureChurch.net, feel free to consult other
online resources using the search terms and authors
provided in this week’s comments.
Be sure to cite at least 5 online sources for
your paper (they may all come from the same Web site,
or from different sites).
