Assignments for this course take the form of written summaries, research, and analysis. They are designed to help us work through the course objectives, while keeping a focus on our spiritual growth through conceptual learning.

For each assignment, please develop a document and submit it to me in either Microsoft Word or HTML format (your word processing software should permit you to do a "save as" and choose either of those formats).

Important: Ask the Holy Spirit to speak the truth of God to you each time you do an assignment.   

Assignment #1 

Readings: Kingdom Practice, Power and Principle

                        Introduction

                        Chapter 1: Kingdom Character

                  Rediscovering the Kingdom

                        Prologue: Hidden Treasure Introduction 

Length 5-6 pages 

Read the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:3-12). The world emphasizes talents and abilities as the primarily principles to determine accomplishment and success. Why do you think the Kingdom of God emphasizes character as the most important virtue? What does it really mean to live by Kingdom principles?

                        Chapter 2: Kingdom Conduct

                        Chapter 3: Kingdom Charisma

                  Rediscovering the Kingdom

                        Chapter 1: Discovering the Origins and Purpose of Man

                        Chapter 2: Rediscovering the Kingdom Concept 

Length 5-6 pages 

Explain the concepts of Kingdom Conduct and Kingdom Charisma. How do Kingdom concepts help us rediscover God’s original intent for our lives? What does it mean to rediscover the Kingdom Concept?

Assignment #3

                        Chapter 5: Other Gifts of the Kingdom

                  Rediscovering the Kingdom

                        Chapter 3: Enter the King and the Kingdom

                        Chapter 4: The Assignment of Jesus-Restore the Kingdom

How do the gifts of the Kingdom differ from the idea of ‘gifts’ from the world’s perspective? Why do you think Jesus is the Cornerstone of the Kingdom and how does knowing Jesus help us understand what it means to live by Kingdom principles?

                        Chapter 7: Kingdom Desire

               Rediscovering the Kingdom

                        Chapter 5: The Good News of the Kingdom

                        Chapter 6: A Kingdom of Servant Kings 

Length 5-6 pages 

What is Kingdom desire and what is the Good News of the Kingdom? As believers, what is our part in living in a Kingdom as servant kings? How does our role as servant kings help us fulfill God’s purpose in our lives?

Assignment #5

                        Chapter 8: Kingdom Destiny

                        Chapter 9: Kingdom Discipline

                  Rediscovering the Kingdom

                        Chapter 7: Kings, Prophets and the Kingdom

                        Chapter 8: The Priority of the Kingdom

What is Kingdom destiny and Kingdom discipline? How do these things play a part in our becoming a true disciple of Jesus? What do you consider as the priority of the Kingdom and how does that relate to our relationship with the Lord and our ministry to others?

                        Chapter 10: The Coming Kingdom

               Rediscovering the Kingdom

                        Chapter 9: Understanding the Kingdom Concepts 

Length 5-6 pages    

What is the coming Kingdom? What part does this play in our ministry to others? How does our perspective of the coming Kingdom shape our relationship with God and others? Why is it important to understand the Kingdom concepts? 

Assignment #7 

Final Research Paper 

Length 12-15 pages

What has the Lord revealed to you in this course? Write a final paper summing up the knowledge, ideas and conclusions you reached during the course. Focus your paper and make sure it reflects, through references and comments, the work you have done and what you gained from your learning experience. Explain how you gained a greater understanding of Kingdom Principles. Consider the questions, what does it mean to turn your heart to the Kingdom of God and how does this help you carry out God’s Will for your life? 

  • Read: The Matthew 6:33 Principle: Turning Your Heart to the Kingdom of God
  • Consider all the material you observed in this course and focus on those issues that are close to your heart.
  • Also, make use of the bibliography resources in your texts as they make excellent references for guided research.
  • Make use of the ACU Online Resource Center. There are many great resources there to help you.
