Assignments for this course take the form of written summaries, research, and analysis. They are designed to help us work through the course objectives, while keeping a focus on our spiritual growth through conceptual learning.

For each assignment, please develop a document and submit it to me in either Microsoft Word or HTML format (your word processing software should permit you to do a "save as" and choose either of those formats).

Each assignment can be completed by consulting Web-based materials listed on the course Resource page.

Please note that all essay questions should be answered with 250-500 words. The paper should be standard typing format (double spaced...) is required. Papers will be graded on readability, documentation, organizations and insight. 

The book for this course will be used in other counseling courses in your program as a reference book and is not actually the textbook for this course. All assignments can be researched from this book or from surfing the Net.

Assignment 1: 

Read Collins Chapter 13 and describe who is a Christian Counselor.

( In some revised additions of your book the chapter may now be chapter 2 check your table

of contents if chapter 13 is not correct and is not chapter 2)

According to Galatians 6:1-10 describe the characteristics of a Christian Counselor. 

Assignment 2:

What Role does the Holy Spirit play in counseling? Write out 5 biblical examples of the

Role of the Holy Spirit in counseling.

What does belief in the Holy Spirit empowerment indicate to you?

Does the Holy Spirit empower today as He did in the book of Acts.

Should one actively intentional pursue the presence of the Holy Spirit in counseling endeavors?

 Assignment 3: 

Should Christian Counselor Insist on Forgiveness?

What is the difference between objective and subject guilt. Why is the difference important?

Effective Biblical Counseling by Larry Crabb

The goal of biblical counseling is to conform to Christ’s image, please God, and to enter into a deeper relationship with God. Secular counseling is geared toward people becoming happy. But the goal of Christian life and counseling is not an individual’s happiness but rather transformation. Larry Crabb introduces a model for helping caring Christians become capable counselors. 

1.) Some of our suffering is the inevitable lot of fallen people living in a fallen world.
