Resource

Lesson 1
§
Read Prologue,
Introduction, Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 of Shadows
Among Us.
§
Read the Book
of Mark and memorize Mark 16:15-18.
§
Write a list
of scriptures found in the Book of Mark in which Jesus
explicitly gave His orders to His disciples and
underline the action. (You may cut and paste from a
Bible software program or website such as Crosswalk.)
Key Focus:
Jesus taught with authority, healed
with authority, understood His authority as He stood
before Pilate, cast out demons with authority, passed on
His authority and then commissioned His disciples in
that authority. As a student of Jesus Christ, you have
been commissioned!
Lesson 2
§
Read Chapter 3
of
Shadows Among Us.
§
Read Hebrews
5:1-10:39 in the Book of Hebrews.
§
Write a list
of benefits received through the Blood of Jesus and the
New Covenant (at least 15)
Key Focus:
The Gospel rests on the importance of
understanding covenant. God is a God of His word. He has
exalted His word and His name above all things. The
ability to walk with an individual through spiritual
healing rests on this very premise.
Lesson 3
§
Read Chapter 4
of
Shadows Among Us.
§
Look through
the Book of Luke and mark scripture relating to
deliverance.
§
Write a list
of demonic manifestations listed throughout the books of
Matthew, Mark, and Luke (ex. begged Jesus, threw the
boy onto the ground)
Key Focus:
The New Testament is replete with
guaranteed ways an individual can become defiled. Jesus
taught that a man is a slave to the sin he serves.
Lesson 4
§
Read Chapter 5
of Shadows Among Us.
§
Read
Ephesians 1:1-30
§
Compare
Revelation 9:4 and Ezek 9:1-6 and write a one paged,
double-spaced paper on the importance of the seal of the
Holy Spirit, and include an explanation of why God would
start in His own house first, according to a scripture
Key Focus:
Seals are created to protect,
authorize, and authenticate, such as the seal of the
Holy Spirit, but the devil also uses seals and a man can
become ensnared by the words of his mouth. Understanding
seals is essential to uncovering blocks and barricades
to an individual’s spiritual healing.
Lesson 5
§
Read Chapter 6
of
Shadows Among Us.
§
Read the
account of Jericho, Joshua 6:1-27.
§
List all
actions taken by the Israelites in the natural, and the
spiritual result of their actions.
Key Focus:
Today, a majority of the population
deals with distorted images of self. We see it in women
who have to lose just another five pounds, or the teen
who is convinced that she is ugly. There is a spiritual
answer to distorted images, and the Bible clearly lays
out reasons for such distortions. Strongholds are
spiritual and spiritual tools must be implemented in
bringing them down.
Lesson 6
§
Read Chapter 7
of
Shadows Among Us.
§
Read
Deuteronomy 27 and 28.
§
Write a
one-paged, double-spaced paper on the importance of
spiritual principles laid out within Chapters 27 and 28
of Deuteronomy, and the relevance on the New Testament
believers.
Key Focus:
The soul of man, disrupted by the death and destruction
that sin brings into the world, even before the birthing
process, suffers wounds that are in need of restoration.
David taught us that we are born into sin. Indeed, I
was born guilty, a sinner when my mother conceived me
(Ps 51:5). There are consequences of the sins of our
forefathers, which are forever present in our lives, if
they themselves did not ask for forgiveness for those
sins
Mid-term Exam: to be
completed
Writing assignments thus
far, are to be turned in with mid-term exam.
Lesson 7
§
Read Chapter 8
of
Shadows Among Us.
§
Read Ephesians
6.
§
Make a list of
ways the devil can attack Christians. Use scripture to
back up your claims.
Key Focus:
There is a real battle, with a real enemy, XE "enemy"
leaving real wounds. Satan, as it is written, has an
agenda: to destroy the saints of God who are obedient to
His Word, and who hold to what is true. Therefore, those
who maintain a testimony of Jesus are in a war with the
forces of hell to block, bind, or prohibit the
advancement of the Kingdom of God.
Lesson 8
§
Read Chapter 9
of
Shadows Among Us.
§
Read Romans 8.
§
There are
three lists found in scripture which state that, if you
do certain things, you will not inherit the Kingdom of
God. Write those three scriptures and the lists included
within them.
Key Focus:
The conflict between spirit and flesh is the war which
rages in each one of us in some form or fashion.
Allowing the spirit to overcome the flesh is one of the
most important aspects of growth and development in the
walk of a Christian. This process is not an easy or
comfortable one. Each and every Christian has a choice
before him: whether or not to allow the Lord to change
him from the inside out. Hence, many of those in need
of deliverance have avoided the process in one or more
areas of their life.
Lesson 9
§
Read Chapter
10 of
Shadows Among Us.
§
Read Matthew
12.
§
Write one
paragraph on biblical blasphemy.
Key Focus:
Jesus was accused of operating under the direction of
Satan, and so will those who are involved in the
ministry of deliverance. But beware! Jesus also warned
His accusers of blasphemy XE "blasphemy" , reminding us
today that the process of “casting out,” is
actually a work of the Holy Spirit!
Lesson 10
§
Read Chapter
11 and 12 of
Shadows Among Us
§
Read Galatians
4 and 5.
§
List forms of
New Testament idolatry.
Key Focus: Idolatry can be a
sin so protected within the depths of the soul that the
prayer recipient might not realize, at least on the
surface, that there is a problem of allegiance. They
will sometimes choose to focus on the symptoms instead
of the cause. Discovery of the cause will unveil
deceptions and errors in thinking, thus allowing truth
and light to replace that area of darkness, and
therefore freeing the individual from the yoke of
bondage.
Lesson 11
§
Read Chapters
13 and 14 of
Shadows Among Us.
§
Read I
Peter1:1-25.
§
Write a one
page paper on the definition of holiness: include ways
in which one’s life and actions will reflect holiness
based on Romans 6:19-23 and Col. 3.
Key Focus:
Prayer is key, and effectual prayer
is not a mystery. There are clear guidelines within
scripture which will guarantee a successful prayer life.
Prayer is the birthplace of miracles, healings,
deliverances, reconciliation and restoration. In order
for the power of prayer XE "prayer" to be
evidenced, a proper attitude must exist. Jesus taught
that wrong motives, empty phrases, and long prayers
prayed for attention were of no value.
Lesson 12
§
Read Chapter
15and 16 of
Shadows Among Us.
§
Read the Book
of Colossians.
§
Write a one
page paper based on Colossians 2:13-15.
Key Focus:
Faith in Jesus, and understanding the power that is in
His name as one performs deeds of healing and
deliverance, magnifies Christ on earth and advances His
Kingdom. It is an extension of Him and of His mission.
To deny His work is to deny His deity, His power, and
His authority. The use of His name is a means by which
His power and authority is implemented throughout the
earth.
