music from a biblical perspective.

This
course
presents the
historical development of Christian and Gospel music
from its early foundations in America and throughout the
20th century. Developments
are also traced from a spiritual and cultural
perspective.
Course Learning Objectives
The
purposes of this course will:
1.
Provide a historical foundation of Christian/Gospel
music genres.
2.
Examine the influence of secularism in Christian/Gospel
music.
3.
Investigate the impact of Christian/Gospel music in
popular culture.
4.
Provide a background for the use of recording technology
beginning in the 20th Century.
Course Policies:
Attendance
This
is a 16-week course. Its requirements include 5
assignments which you will complete and submit via the
Internet. We will also engage in discussion which will
enable you to have regular contact with your instructor
and other classmates if appropriate.
I
will be available for you to answer any questions,
engage in discussion and provide assistance as needed.
Your
assignments should be submitted as file attachments in
either Microsoft Word or HTML format. Each assignment
will be evaluated, graded, and returned with feedback.
Values for each assignment are provided in the grade
components below.
Time
Management
Please be sure to manage your time for your assignments
so that you have adequate time to complete your work
over the 16-week period. If you need suggestions in
making time management plan, I will be glad to assist
you.
Communication
Communication and discussion are important aspects to an
effective online course because they will allow us to
interact in a virtual environment. We will primarily
communicate via e-mail. Please feel free to use my email
address for questions, comments, concerns, etc. and I
will do the same.
