Course Description
An overview of the Bible as a source of historical, spiritual, moral, and intellectual literature. This course traces the
development of the Bible as a document and provides an introduction to the major characters, events, and themes of the Christian scripture.
Course Learning Objectives
1. Have read and discussed the major Old Testament and New Testament books of the Bible; 2. Have considered the Bible for its accuracy and relevance as historical literature; 3. Consider the spiritual claim of the Bible as the Word of God;
4. Have been exposed to the major characters of the Old and New Testaments; 5. Understand the major general themes of the Bible; 6. Develop a personal statement as to the Bible's truth claims.
Course Policies
Attendance This is a 90 day independent study course, and is designed to be primarily self-paced. Its requirements include assignments and tests that you will complete and submit via the
Internet. Your assignments should be submitted as file attachments in
either Microsoft Word or HTML format. Each assignment will be evaluated, graded, and returned with feedback. Values for each assignment and test are provided in a table below. Timing Please be sure to
time your assignments so that you have adequate time to complete the work in 90 days. Course tests are sent to you after you complete specific assignments (please see Test page), so be sure to give yourself enough
space to pace the work comfortably.
Evaluation Material Assignments and Final Paper There are 9 course total assignments and a final paper.
