Assignments for this course take the form of written summaries, research, and analysis. They are designed to help us work through the course objectives, while keeping a focus on our spiritual growth through conceptual learning.

For each assignment, please develop a document and submit it to me in either Microsoft Word or HTML format (your word processing software should permit you to do a "save as" and choose either of those formats).

Please note that all essay questions should be answered with 250-500 words. The paper should be standard typing format (double spaced...) is required. Papers will be graded on readability, documentation, organization and insight. 

Assignment 1:   Lecture

Define a crisis situation and the various dynamics at work in a crisis situation.  

Assignment 2:

Prepare a short essay on an as authentic as possible situation dealing with a crisis. Include basic components of the problem and the approaches to be taken by a Christian counselor... 

Assignment 3: 

Discuss the importance of approaching the problem from a Christian perspective and identify non-Christian approaches in a situation which might violate Christian principles.  

Assignment 4:

Locate and identify 5 resources in your local community that would address a crisis situation. Please submit names, address and phone numbers. 

Assignment 5:

The decision to refer or transfer is indicated by the need of the individual. As a minister or lay minister when is it necessary to release the primary role of the individual to someone else, and to shift into the supportive role... 

Assignment 6 

Give examples of dispositional crisis, psychiatric emergencies, and maturational/developmental crisis.
